Last night we had the strangest phenomenon occur here. I went out to feed the boys and something was clearly wrong. What was falling from the sky? I put my hand out. It was liquid. It was clear. I tasted it. It tasted like .... nothing. It was water. We had water falling from the sky!
When I went to bed a few hours later we still had water falling from the sky. I heard an unusual sound. The rain was enough to cause gurgling sounds from my gutters as it made its way down from the roof. A noise I haven't heard since July!
Water drips off of Aspen catkins
We had .43 inches of rain!
Woohoo!
We celebrate the small things around here when it comes to moisture. Something we have sorely missed. We are 45 inches behind in snow this year and have had rain fewer times than I can count on both hands, and then it has almost always been measured in hundredths of an inch.
I can't wait to see how our pasture reacts to this moisture!
I think we got all your moisture up here! Would you like some back?
ReplyDeleteCongrates on the rainfall...I hope you get much more, but in nice small installments to prevent flooding of any kind.
ReplyDeleteBlessings Kelsie
I don't think we had as much rain as you did. And your aspens are ahead of ours!
ReplyDeleteWould sure like to hear rain here. Our county is now under a burn ban due to the lack of rain. Sigh...
ReplyDeleteWould love some rain here, too. It's not rained in more than 7 months, unless you count that .23 we got last week. The ground wasn't even damp the next morning. wah.
ReplyDeleteThis winter has been the dryest we've had for....I can't remember. We always get a least a few good snowfalls each month from November until May. This year we only got two good snowfalls and I don't think they were all that good for that matter. Not enough to rescue us from this drought an fire season. :O
