Whither the Weather Redux

Last year, almost to the day, I posted the poem below and the image for our coming weather - which was predicted to be snow for a day or so.

Whether the weather be fine,
Or whether the weather be not.
Whether the weather be cold,
Or whether the weather be hot.
We'll weather the weather,
Whatever the weather,
Whether we like it or not!

I went on to whine, just a bit, about the snow, but that was offset by my interest in having some much needed moisture.

So, fast-forward a year ... and two days... let's do it all over again!

I already posted the poem.

Here is the weather pictogram:

The fun news is that today we should have accumulation of less than an inch. Good thing! I have an appointment and need to pick up mail at Dad's. Oh, and all those yummy, warm, ooey-gooey things to help me 'make it' through the storm!

Tonight, the predicted accumulation has increased to 5-9  6-10 inches. Tomorrow, another opportunity for 3-7 4-8 inches, and tomorrow night, 1-3 2-4 inches. Lovely! I knew it was going to snow! The large snowfall we had from Christmas and all of the small bits we've had since have finally melted in all areas but those sheltered by the buildings or vehicles, or where it had drifted a bit. My paddock is finally dry enough to clean up all of the petrified poop. I knew that as soon as I got it clean again, it would snow! Hmmm.... I wonder...... if I don't clean the paddock, will that hold the snow off in the future?!

The thing that I find rather amusing, in a droll sort of way, is that we used to live on "The Palmer Divide". This interesting geological feature is a high ridge of land that runs perpendicular to the front range of the Colorado mountains. It is known to have THE WORST weather! We moved about 50 miles north and dropped in elevation over 1000 feet. This fall, when our first snow was blowing and swirling around the outdoor light I was listening to the local weather. The reporter commented that we were experiencing rain.... except on the Palmer Divide, where they were getting snow. Hmmm, that stuff outside my window sure looked like snow to me. I got on my computer and searched. I wanted to find out just where that Palmer Divide was located. Would you believe... we still live on the Palmer Divide!

Stay warm!

  1. perhaps cleaning corrals attracts snow like washing a car brings the rain!

  2. I guess you don't want to hear it any more that I wish for at least SOME SNOW to fall on our canyon. A funny ending to the post, Palmer Divide must be a large place.

  3. Glad it's winter some place. Here in Cincinnati where we should be in the 30's and cold. We are in the high 50's and light jackets.

I'd like to some snow... I'd like a lot of snow...
