My pictures were taken on the fly from my bike, so they aren't as close up or as clear as I'd like. The picture below shows a family of three. The two children ran back to Mom or Dad as I got close.
I certainly wouldn't want to have these 'cute' critters in my pasture. They destroy the grass and their burrows could easily break a horse's leg.
The Prairie Dogs are a little indiscriminate as to where they build their burrows. There were a number of entrances to burrows built on the bike path/walking trail.
Do you see the Prairie
This bold little fella was chattering
and shaking his tail at us!
Hey, watch out!
You're hogging the trail!
Wouldn't want them in my pasture either. But, they are cute when elsewhere :)ReplyDelete
I think they are adorable, but I'm so glad we don't have them on our property. But they aren't very far away. I saw one this afternoon when I ran an errand on my lunch break.ReplyDelete
They are here! They are funny! The dogs love to chase them. Fortunatly they live in the rock bluffs here and don't dig holes except next to the railroad right of way. Its the badger holes we have to watch out for when riding. Great pics of the little guys.ReplyDelete
Share the trail! Funny. Our zoo in Apple Valley has these little guys in an area where we can right up close to all their little games and play time. They are so fun to watch.ReplyDelete
Prairie dogs must be the cuter, out west equivalent to ground moles. I would love to see one, but like everyone else, not in a pasture :)ReplyDelete
I don't have prairie dogs, but I still have tons of ground squirrels . :) There everywhere!ReplyDelete
