Hay-ay-ay There! or Fence Follies #1

The story you are about to read is true; the names have not even been changed to protect the innocent guilty!

This is the documented drama of an actual crime.

[Cue Dragnet music]

Sunday, October 2. It was sunny and warm in the pasture. Mrs. Owner was not doing anything constructive, as she was distracted by reading blogs while sitting at the kitchen table.  She didn't need a detective to work day watch with her. Because.....

Hay-ay-ay there! Nay-ay-ay!
Mrs. Owner!
Hay-ay-ay there!
It's me, Doc.
I'm here, by the fence.
Nay-ay-ay!

Pippin's torn down the wire that protected the new grass. He's in that place with the wonderful green grass.....again! He's where he shouldn't be.

Pippin! Get out of there! Bad boy!
You've torn down the fence
.... again.
Shooo! Out!

Doc, did you have to rat on me?
Tattle tale, tattle tale!
Hope you step on a rusty nail!
You are nothing but a goody-goody four shoes.
You ruined everything.
Now my Mrs. Owner has put the fence back up
and all I can do is stare at that
yummy,
succulent,
mouth watering,
delicious,
juicy
sweet,
tasty,
tempting,
scrumptious,
tender,
green grass.

Sigh...

I hate you, Doc!
I'm not gonna play with you ever again!

Agitated Haffies

It is readily apparent that the beehive of activity....

does not upset the horses too darn much!

And just for a bit of contrast,
here is the same shot
just 12 hours later!

Yes, fall has arrived....
snowfall that is!

Another Earthquake hits Colorado!

There's a whole lotta shakin' goin' on!

The concrete parking pad at our house had settled and cracked. It needed to be replaced as it was directing water toward the house. The driver of the skid loader with a special air hammer point took just over an hour to jack hammer the entire thing and reduce it to rubble. Impressive!

Triple Threat

Doc here, I've changed my mind about wearing window screens. I guess I was narrow minded and had the wrong point of view. (Pretty good guy, aren't I, to be so honest and such a flexible thinker?!) I think that Camryn is on to something. (Oh, and did I mention that I think she is sweet on me?!) She commented on Pippin's post about wearing window screens. She calls her sheet a 'cape' and suggested that we become a triplet of super heros in our super hero capes. We could become a herd of Super Hero Haflingers! Sure, I'll even let Camryn be the 'boss hero'. It was her idea, after all! (Another example of my being a good guy, don't you think?!) So I'm rethinking what I'm wearing; they're not window screens, or even mundane fly sheets they  are super hero capes! Ta-daaa! You know, it's all a matter of perspective!

We could avenge all of the wrongs in the world. We could make sure that all horses have hay. We could disrupt horse sales where horses are being sold for.... well, I can't even mention it because it makes me so sad. We could distract bad owners who are mistreating their horses, and by our distraction, allow the abused horse to run away. Oh, we could do so much!

Triple Threat Haflinger Heros.... why we could have a secret hoof stomp and whinny! We could become famous. We could have our own reality TV show!

Hmmmm... I like Camryn's idea....

Imagine the possibilities!

One Man's Trash

Why is it that the men in my life are less than impressed with the treasures I found at the auction? I thought I had come away with some great goodies!

Here are some cute, horse head bridle hooks. I think they are a lot classier looking than the colored ones I can get at the feed store (and heaps better than the tuna fish cans my friend and I nailed up in her tack room years ago!). Tucker didn't particularly care for them. He sniffed them and walked away. Did I detect that his nose was turned up a bit?! Would he have shown such disdain if the hooks were dog heads??

Then there are the saddle racks. I waited at least an hour for the auctioneers to get around to the spot with the saddle racks. I hung around while they auctioned off barrels, piles of old harness, a broken weedeater, a box of horse brushes, a set of salt and pepper shakers held by a rattle snake made out of resin, and more. I didn't once nod my head or lift my hand. I refrained from bidding on lots of interesting things. (Oh, but it was hard to resist the salt and pepper shakers! I had to tuck my hands deep into my pockets! I know just the person I could have gifted them to!) The saddle racks looked like nice, heavy duty racks. There were three of them and I just happen to have three saddles. It was meant to be. Hubby shrugged his shoulders a bit. I may have also noticed one eyebrow lifted... you know, that questioning look?!

Then, who could resist this charming hose rack? I wasn't going to bid on it, honest, I wasn't. But I certainly couldn't let the other lady walk away with it for only $2.50! I had to one-up her for sure. And I had actually looked at it earlier and decided it was cute, even if I just use the humming birds as a decorative plaque someplace! Hubby was even less excited about this than he was about the saddle racks!

And finally, the wearable window screens! Sure, fly season is basically over... but the flies will be back next year. I think the boys look stunning in their new fly sheets. But, alas, another male faction that appears to be less than impressed. Pippin's only interest was to see if they were edible. Sigh....

You're Wearing What?!

Bwa-ha-ha-ha!
Do your realize how silly you look?
You look like you are wearing a window screen!
Bwa-ha-ha-ha!

Pssst! Should I tell him that he looks
just as silly as I do?

So... what's with the clothes?
I'm sure glad the neighbor's horses aren't there
to see us dressed up in screens!
How embarrassing!

Can you figure it out?
Tune in tomorrow for the full story!
