Holy Somethin' or Other

We have owned 12 acres on a hillside in NC for over 28 years now! We used to camp on it with the kids. Now it keeps the Mister busy when we are camped at the RV resort near Lake Lure. He went to check on the property and came back reporting on this: 

What you can't see are the wasps of some sort flying around.

I dared go no closer, but how intriguing to see the formation of their nest.

We will leave them be. 

According to Mr. A I-(nstein) the wasps will die out when winter comes.

The nest will be abandoned. 

We won't have to worry about them next year.

Hmmmm....might a bear decide to move in?!

Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh My! Chapter Two

Gypsy, what does the sign say?

It says they have seen a bear in the campground, 

and to be really careful.

Well, of course. 

Anyone can see that there is a bear in the campground. 

Look over your shoulder. 

What do you think that is?

 Stupid humans.

We went camping with friends in our Rocky Mountain Allegro club this week. A few freeloading bears decided to poke around the campground for some easy pickings. Or, maybe they just wanted to live the lifestyle, as this YouTube video shows.



The wildlife folks came in with two different traps, and caught the bigger of the two bears. Evidently he was the ringleader.

Once the big guy was trapped and taken away, the wildlife folks seemed to think campers wouldn't need to worry about bears any longer, and the traps were removed

Not Sure I Can Bear It

While traveling along the "Forgotten Coast" of Florida we noticed signs for bear crossings.

Are you kidding me?!

Bears are in the mountains. Right?

Bears are in Alaska. Right? 

Apparently I made an incorrect assumption!

This is a Maserati that was parked next to us in Carrabelle, FL.  While the owners were driving in the area they hit a bear. The police officer who reported their claim explained that bears often charge at approaching cars. 

Oh, my!

Beware of the bear ... even in coastal Florida!
