Sunday - My Way

I've been trying to get back into the habit of walking*. It's good for me and it's good for the dogs. We also live in a great area for a neighborhood walk as we have many horseback riding trails within a half mile or less of our home, and the roads are very quiet. I put up this post about walking in the 'hood' in August.

Today we actually crossed paths with a horseback rider. I would have taken a picture of the beautiful (and very calm) palomino, but the timing was all wrong. We had just come to a fence with two large German Shepard type dogs, running up and down the fence, barking at us and at the horse. Add to that, my two Corgis were barking back at the dogs, as well as barking at the horse, and pulling a bit to try to get closer to the horse. The activity did not lend itself to my taking out my phone and capturing a picture! Maybe next time!

I played a few games of Mahjong online with my BFF. We catch a few games with each other almost daily. It's a fun way to chat, do some sort of mindless hand work, and play a game that we love!

I made some progress on Step 6 of the Bonnie Hunter Mystery Quilt. I posted about the beginning of this challenge in November. I only have 6 more blocks to make before I move on. (My progress was hampered by the surgery on my hand, which limited my ability to cut fabric)

I put our fake Christmas tree to bed, and watered the real tree that we recently planted.

I put a few pieces in the jigsaw puzzle I received in my "Jenny Box"

And, I completed a second quilted clock....wanting to make some improvements on the first!

* I let myself slip out of the habitual daily walk for a number of reasons. In the summer it was simply too darn hot. Additionally, I have arthritis in the bones of the arch of my left foot and that makes walking very painful. I recently went to a new podiatrist. He recommended a different OTC orthotic, and by jove, they are making a difference! (How's that for an old saying?!)

  1. Well, by jove, this is splendid! It's difficult for me to walk on our streets as they are gravel and there is very little flatness here. Corgis are soooo cute.

    1. We have slopes around us, not steep hills. The horse trails are sandy, especially at the entrance/exits. That’s sometimes a bit harder going. I agree about the Corgis!!

  2. I'm thrilled you found an orthotic that is helping to make your feet feel better, and walking easier! You've accomplished a lot recently.

    1. I am beyond excited about the diminished pain. Before the orthotics (even though I was using an orthotic recommended by another podiatrist) I often felt like my foot had been cut off and I was walking on the stump of my ankle. It was truly crippling. Hah! But do I remember which model of orthotic I bought? No! I want to get another pair so I don't need to move them from one pair of shoes to another...and the office, as I recall, had a better price than I could get anywhere else! I'll get another pair on my next visit.

    2. After years of waiting tables in cheap tennis shoes, my feet are a mess. I have one brand of arch supports that I like, and order them often. I don't know what I'll do if they ever decide to quit making them!
