The block for our garage arrived! The truck backed into the dirt driveway that we use for the RV. You can see the flat bed in the distance. Each pallet of blocks was brought over by a mega fork lift. The delivery guy had already brought 6 or 7 pallets in before I even realized he was here.
The way that the blocks are stacked, and the placement of the pallets
makes me think of tall tenement buildings in a city.
There appear to be streets, alleys and areas for parks amongst and in between the "buildings".
The grey block reminds me of Soviet apartments we have seen in our travels.
Those blocks must be heavy. You will have a very sturdy garage.
ReplyDeleteWe live in Florida, about 15 miles from the Gulf. We are in hurricane territory, so our buildings need to meet codes for high winds. I guess it is easier to use block than it is to use frame, built to code.
DeleteThis is moving right along. It does sort of look like tenements.
ReplyDeleteOur builder is fantastic. Building, on the whole, has slowed down due to economic uncertainty. However, he has taken on a number of garages and conversions. He seems to have great subcontractors and a group of men...and his daughter on occasion.. who do the odd jobs. We are keeping our fingers crossed as it all has been going so smoothly.
