I WILL Survive

One of the things I truly love about our home is the clusters of trees found throughout our yard. They provide dappled shade, and in the heat of the Florida sun, it just looks cooler.

The trees on the left side of the house were growing toward the open sky. In a storm, their branches could impact (literally) our roof/house.

They removed only 5 trees, in a stand of a dozen or so. It opened up the space directly next to, and above that side of our house

I recently noticed that the trees, in a last ditch effort to survive, have sent up suckers form the remaining trunks.....

... and evidently from the root network as well!

These trees certainly have the survival instinct!

  1. I live in what once was forest land. We have finally thrown our hands up and surrendered to the trees.

    1. We have 12 acres of forested land in NC. Last year we had about 2 acres clearcut so we could build a cabin, as some point in the future, and not be concerned about trees falling. It is clear-cut no more!

  2. Glad you got rid of the hazard trees that could get your roof. Trees are peculiar...if you want them to grow they are a project and if you don't want them to grow then they grow like weeds.

    1. I learned, as a Master Gardener, that a weed is any plant you don't want in a specific area. So, yes, the trees are weeds!

    1. I think I will be fighting the suckers for a long time! I loved the shade of the trees, but if we had a good storm, I'd be a wreck with limbs hanging over our heads.
