This morning, sweet Vickie went out for her daily constitutional. She is usually back, asking to be let in, within minutes. Breakfast comes next and that is a highlight of her day! Corgis are all about food!
Vickie (AKA Queen Victoria) was in the far corner of our yard .... eating.
Ick. Yeech. Yuck.
Now I get to worry about:
Why the bunny was found, most likely previously deceased
Whether the bunny was poisoned.
If the bunny had parasites, or a bacterial infection did him in.
So far, Vickie seems just fine - no apparent reactions to her morning appetizer.
The bunnies are cute. I hate to see that one has died.
Years ago I saw my bassets snuffling about the propane tank. They had found a nest of small bunny babies and killed them just by the sniffling. It made me feel really bad. Vickie thought she found the buffet.
ReplyDeleteWe've had a dog come to the door with a bunny in his mouth. I tried to het him to drop it by offering a treat and he swelled the bunny, whole! We've had several bunny nests. We read that the rabbits will often dig their nests in yards with dogs as they seem to know that other predators might not be there. I guess it failed with your bunnies! I adore bassets!
DeleteHopefully it was kinda fresh meat...some people feed raw:)
ReplyDeleteWe actually did a BARF diet (bones and raw food) with our first Aussie to see if his seizures decreased. They didn't, and it was such a challenge to balance all the necessary pieces of the diet to mimic what they'd get naturally. I do think the bunny was fresh - and she seems to be fine.
