We ventured to Inverness, FL on Saturday to check out "Market at the Depot" at Liberty Park. The city venue is fabulous. The property is located near a bike trail and in addition to the large pavilion, has a "stage" under the water tower and a café with a game room.
A squall came through just after we arrived. The outside vendors, and even some of the inside vendors, had to deal with blowing rain.
This was my favorite:
This clever lady acquired a variety of books of different genres. Each was wrapped and included a brief synopsis. For example, one synopsis stated:
Historical Fiction
- Contemporary - Cold War
- Troubled marriage - Lies
- Kept secrets - Love
- Twist - NYC
Rating: 4 stars on Amazon
The pretty packaging also included note paper, a marker, some stickers, a tea bag and other ephemera.
Who doesn't love a brown bag mystery?!
Clever idea!
I love the idea of a Blind Date with a Book! I've been meaning to sign up for one, but the thought of running across one at a market is even better! All of my kids are readers, and every year for Christmas, a book is one of their presents. I've played around with the idea of ordering a Blind Date for them, but I'd rather buy from a small business than from the big online store. Guess I'd better start looking around :)
ReplyDeleteGifting a Blind Date book is a great idea! Who doesn't like unwrapping a package anyway?! There are some Etsy stores that sell the books, but I'm also thinking one could make up your own version.
DeleteI like the clever woman without having met her!
ReplyDeleteShe was a sweet heart! I think she sold out all of her books while I was there.
DeleteWhat a nice outing! I rarely spend that much for a book I want!
ReplyDeleteI try not to buy books - I never reread them and they just add to my clutter. I now have a library less than 10 miles from me, and I'm trying to acquire the habit of going there frequently. I just need to find the tie to read!!!
