Alas, the horses like to eat.

I should see if I can get the family to go out once. Might be fun, if I can find time to read the rules.

How fun to include Tucker in your adventure!Once Upon an Equinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08807098276875052982noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6816015196790632629.post-79127296855642825462010-12-17T00:19:35.424-07:002010-12-17T00:19:35.424-07:00How exciting! You'll learn a lot along the way and make adjustments as you go.

I love your opinion about 'hiking with a purpose'! That's one of the reasons we love letterboxing, too! We love to be outdoors and go hiking anyway, but letterboxing is that additional motivation to head out for a hike. We all need goals, right?

We also love the collecting part of it. Unlike geocaching, you usually collect a piece of art that directly relates to the location you found it, so you have a nice keepsake and memory from your experience, too.

As for what we bring when we letterbox, I prefer to pack lightly, but for now I have 4 journals to carry around, 3 for my 3 kidlets and one for me and my hubby. I use a large make-up bag to cart the journals, stamp pads, personal stamps, markers, pens and compass.

One day I will only have to pack just one journal (yay!). And when that happens I plan on using a fanny pack or a fishing vest.

The journals we use have hard cardboard backing, front and back, so they help with the stamping-in and give a more secure, stiff surface.
The most important thing with a journal is to try to find unlined journals, so you can enjoy the stamped image a little clearer and less-cluttered.

I wish we lived closer so we could letterbox together. I look forward to future letterboxing updates from you.

Oh! And I love that you took Tucker. He looked like he enjoyed himself, too. Dogs are terrific letterboxing companions :)

~LisaLaughing Orca Ranchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03562627840013868980noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6816015196790632629.post-20332803897360086152010-12-16T20:42:54.075-07:002010-12-16T20:42:54.075-07:00Lisa got me started in letterboxing too. I have a letterboxing backpack where I carry supplies that help me locate letterboxes (Atlas Quest printouts in a folder), my stamp book, my stamp and pad, pens, and letterboxes I put together for the purpose of planting.Nuzzling Muzzleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07649710635013663900noreply@blogger.com
