April Showers Bring...

Saturday afternoon was just beautiful. I went out to weed, and transplant a few perennials, and was hijacked by a dwarf iris. My only purple iris (at least for now... stay tuned for an iris post later this spring!) was blooming.

It was lovely.

I took a few pictures of it, and Mr. Dreamy came out to take a few more pictures. I took pictures of a few tulips and daffodils.

They were all lovely.

I decided that I wanted to draw the iris, since that is one of the flowers that we drew in a recent online art class I've been taking. I've drawn iris from pictures, but never "in person". So, I gathered my paper and pencil and plopped myself down on the edge of the garden and began to sketch. Mr. Dreamy came out with my bag of colored pencils. I colored.

It was a lovely afternoon.

Yup, the weeds will just have to wait!

    1. Thanks. The class(es) have been interesting. I also took one to learn more about drawing dogs and cats. I've posted more pictures of my attempts at art on another blog. I have a link to it on the right side bar of this blog.

  3. Just like you to tackle one of the hardest flowers to draw and color....but you got it ! So glad you are enjoying Val's classes and I see such progress in your work. Really nice things you are doing and like your self -critiques. Getting ready to head WEST in a couple weeks. Can't wait.

    1. Thanks, Sue. The only reason I tackled it is because Val had us do one previously! The classes have been great, and I can see my own progress.
Safe travels. I am looking forward to our August campout - but maybe we'll see you before. If you stop on this side of the mountains, let me know!

  5. You are much further along with your flowers than we are...my iris won't be blooming until Mother's Day. Beautiful!

    1. This is the only iris that is blooming in the yard. Our others won't be out for weeks. They have just begun to grow. I looked back at pictures from last year and the majority of our iris weren't up until the third week of May.
