Something Stinks

I didn't know that the black and white friend
visiting Mama Boots
was a different sort of cat.
Honest...
I didn't!

And, just because I smelled a bit,
didn't mean that you
had to give me a bath!

Well, you've heard of being mad as a wet hen? What about being mad as a wet Gypsy?! She certainly wasn't happy, at least that's what it looks like in the picture!

Lucky for Gypsy (and for us) she didn't receive a direct hit from friend skunk. But, if she was going to come into the house she needed a bath. I found the following recipe online... and it seemed to work quite well:

1 Qt Hydrogen Peroxide (Mr. Dreamy had to go out and get this at 9 PM)
1/4 C Baking Soda
2 tsp laundry or dish detergent

We gave her a second shampoo with Irish Spring and she smelled sweet as a....
wet dog can smell!

  1. Stinky!! That recipe seems much better than the tomato juice recipe I have always heard of. Poor Gypsy, she looks so upset, but at least she smells good now :)

  2. I keep that recipe and all it's contents and a pair of gloves in a container marked Skunk kit ...thankfully we have not needed it this year. Poor Gypsy, but glad she did not get a direct hit. She looks cranky:)

  3. Oh, Gypsy, you look so guilty. Lucky you, in the old days, you would have had a bath in tomato juice!

  4. personally I think "wet dog" is one of the best smells ever. I wish they would make Sentsy wax that smelled like it.
    Seriously!

  5. Oh she looks so upset. The ever dreaded "stinky kitty". That's what the girls here know them as. And they steer clear of them like the plague.
