I'll See Your Spider, And Raise You....

I didn't particularly care for the arachnid I found in my closet
I thought he was disgustingly, stomach-churningly huge!
Then...Gypsy found this fellow:

Do you see him?
He is easily twice the size of the critter in the closet!
(I apologize for the less than wonderful photo.
I had to grab Mr. Dreamy's phone - and his
phone doesn't do that great a job of taking pictures!)

I learned something new this weekend.
I learned that tarantulas can be found in southern Colorado.
It seems that males, after 7-10 years,
develop long legs and abandon their burrows
to seek female companionship.
The males are on the move in the cool of the day
from late summer to early fall.

Bleeech!

  4. I think spiders are kind of fascinating. I don't want them in my closet though, but I usually scoop them up in a cup and relocate them outside. Glad Gypsy didn't find that 2nd spider in your closet!

  5. Yes, we have them here too. Thanks to my friend Rachael, who has all kinds of critters, including a tarantula, I have slowly overcome my not so nice feelings about these guys. I hope you are enjoying The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating.

  6. I have found a lot of spiders in the basement of our new house. I shake out my shoes everytime I go to put a pair on!
