Gypsy

Here is the good thing that happened today...

Gypsy came into our lives.

(The Sheltie belongs to Gypsy's foster mom.)

Gypsy is our rescue companion for Tucker.
She's an older woman, at 3 or 3 1/2 years of age!

We were told the little bit of information
the rescue organization had about Gypsy.
If I have the story straight...
Gypsy grew up in Missouri.
She was originally selected as a breeding prospect.
The male died, and then her owner couldn't take care of her,
perhaps because he lost his job.

Gypsy traveled to Kansas City.
From there she came west to the
and then came down to the Denver area to
stay with a foster family.

Gypsy came to visit Tucker on Sunday for a play date.
Tucker is a bit lot more energetic than Gypsy.
She is a little intimidated by Tucker's enthusiasm,
but we feel she will become more engaged when she settles in.

Although Gypsy was listed as an Australian Shepherd,
we think she probably is a Border Collie.
She is at least 6 inches shorter than Tucker,
and has a big, bushy tail.
When she was visiting she demonstrated some
stalking moves that are characteristic of Border Collies.
She has the Border Collie 'stare'!

Gypsy was curious about where her foster mom went,
but she didn't whine or cry.
She walked through the house and
looked out the windows near the front door.
Here she is heading upstairs with the rawhide bone
that her foster mom left with her.
At the moment, Gypsy is napping nearby.
I take that as a good sign.

Welcome home, Gypsy,
no more wandering for you!

  6. Gypsy is a very lucky girl! I am the foster that had Poppy the black Aussie you inquired about. I also picked up Gypsy when she came from Missouri and took her to her foster moms Kathleen and Tiffany the next day. I can't believe how happy and wonderful she looks in the pictures. A month ago she had no idea what her future would be, none of us did. She had no idea what it meant to be part of a family, now she has a forever family. We just knew we had to help her. She truly went the long hard way to get to her forever home. She is finally getting the life that she deserves.

    1. Your comment brought tears to my eyes. It's hard to believe that she hasn't always been this way. She is doing so well. She even wagged her tail furiously this evening...I had cat food and she wanted it! Right now she and Tucker are lying on the back porch surveying their kingdom! She seems at peace with the world.

    2. It took alot of puzzle pieces going together and people making things happen to get her to Colorado. Kathleen and Tiffany desrve so much credit for taking her in as a foster and starting her down the path that led her to you and her new life. Hard to believe she was someone's throw-away dog. Kathleen worked hard to show Gypsy how wonderful the world really is. I have to say it again, Gypsy is a lucky dog! She was meant to be yours!

Congrats to all of you on your growing family! I look forward to Tucker and Gypsy adventures!

  11. Way to go! Welcome Gypsy!! She is a lucky dog! The neighbors have an Aussie who is on the small side too..funny about having the "stare"..it is so intense! She may be part BC too. Chance weighs about 60 pounds..he is a good size..I think he and Tucker are about the same size from your photos. That is a pretty little Sheltie too..:)
