Bucking It

When we checked into our condo I picked up a local newspaper. Imagine my surprise upon flipping to the sports section and seeing this:

According to the article, Buck Brannaman is coming to Park City to conduct a fundraiser for a local therapeutic riding program. His visit begins with a free screening of the film, "Buck", winner of the US Documentary Audience Award at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. Buck Brannaman, himself, and the producer of the film will participate in a Q & A session. Dreaming will be there was there, too!

Dreaming and Buck Brannaman

Buck will conduct a 3-hour demonstration using horses at the therapeutic riding center. Unfortunately, tickets sold out in 45 minutes when they were first offered for sale in April. However, a visit to the website indicated that an additional 50 tickets would be offered for sale the next day at 10:00 AM. Dreaming was clicking on the "Buy Ticket's" link the minute the clock ticked over. By 10:03 she had 2 tickets purchased. Dreaming went back to the site at 10:04.... no tickets remained! Wow! Those tickets went fast!

Well, I'm off to the demonstration - more to follow,  I'm sure!

  1. You seem to adapt well to your locale. Of course, therapeutic riding has been an interest of yours for a l-o-n-g time.

    1. You are right, Anne, and it is always interesting to visit other sites and to see how they do their programs.
Actually, when I was 'working' to buy the tickets I thought of your comment about my being a 'dare' devil. If you say I can't have something... I want it and work even harder for it. So... being told the tickets were sold out made me want to get tickets that much more! I am so very glad I was able to acquire them. The demo was wonderful. Even Scott enjoyed it!

  3. Dying to hear about it. I gave Mom the choice of going to see Buck at CSU or Julie in Longmont and she chose Julie. I was a little surprised, because who knows when he will be back this way. Not that I'm complaining - I had a good time seeing my Horse Master friends.

    1. I would love to watch Julie do her thing. Cool that you got to visit with your friends.
Buck is be doing clinics in Colorado in August; Steamboat, Eagle, Longmont and Kiowa. I may go back and audit a few days. Many of the sites allow spectators.

  7. Thank you so much for your wonderfully kind comment on my blog hop "firsts" post! You made me feel so welcomed into the blog hop community.

I actually stumbled upon your blog from another blog that was featured on Snarky Rider. I saw the blog hop, and I suggested that my blogging classmates do a blog hop of our own (I am taking a blogging class at the University of MD-in fact, my final is 30 minutes away!). Here is a link to our Terp blog hop.

So thank you for the inspiration, and I will definitely be participating in more Living a Dream blog hops to come!

    PS-Your Haffies are so cute!

  10. I was fortunate to meet Buck at the Sundance premier of the doc at the Rose Wagner in January, 2011. The I ran into him, his wife, and daughter at the awards party at the end of the festival. And although he and I share a love of horses, we also have the same abusive and dysfunctional childhoods. He is a good man. I'm glad you got in.
