Snowballs....Pasta?

You've heard of things snowballing, right?
Meaning to increase rapidly in size or intensity?

Well, for me, it's this thing with pasta.

A few weeks ago I decided it would be great fun to make homemade ravioli. I'm thinking the inspiration was dining at a restaurant that offered a butternut squash ravioli with some sort of creamy, dreamy sauce. I wanted something that went a step beyond Chef Boyardee!

I found a ravioli maker.

I put together the ingredients.

How hard can this be?

And... we have ravioli!

How hard can this be, I ask? There are no pictures of the finished dish simply because my arms were too tired to lift a camera after kneading and pressing and rolling, trying to get the dough thin enough. It was darn hard! But, we enjoyed our delightfully spiced ricotta cheese stuffed ravioli with a parmesan cheese sauce. Mmmmm.... good!

So the next quest was to acquire a pasta machine to flatten the dough. I decided I would look around in thrift stores. You know, the thrill is in the chase! This is the sort of thing I was looking for:
I didn't exactly find that sort of thing....
but I did come home with a pasta extruder!

And we have been enjoying different sorts of pasta...

But the quest still continues for that pasta press!
The snowball rolls on!

  1. How cool! Can you ship me some of that pasta?

My husband's family is Italian so usually once a year we make home made gnocci, a potato pasta. It is soo good! But it takes about 4 people to make because timing is everything!

  3. Your pasta is probably much more wholesome than store-bought. Did you use spinach in the green pasta? My favorite is tomato pasta.

  6. Looks delish. I understand the snowball effect. A new organic place opened nearby a few months back. We tried it, now we're eating nearly 100% organic. Sooooo, much better tasting.
