Saturday Centus: Turnaround

To celebrate the 100th Saturday Centus, Jenny Matlock has brought back her very first prompt for our writing challenge. One hundred times Jenny has posted a Centus challenge. Wow! That's a lot! The words we are required to include are in italics in my story below.

The day matched my mood. Gray. Bitter. I had just lost my job. Ugly accusations echoed in my ears. Negligence. Stupidity. Careless. How could I face my friends? Who would trust me? My untied shoelace changed my life. As I leaned down to re-tie it, I kicked away a few leaves. When I turned my head slightly to look where the leaves had been, I was astonished to see a rubber-banded wad of hundred dollar bills nestled in a little indention in the muddy ground. I grabbed the cash and raced back to the office. Nearly falling, I stumbled up the stairs and flung the door open. I gasped, “Look! I found it! The missing deposit.”
Mr. Wainwright glanced up from the keyboard. With a look of relief he sighed, “Seems like I can stop drafting this want ad, but only if you promise to repair that hole in your pocket!”

    1. I had trouble posting so I tacked on to Judie's post. This was very well written. I loved the fact that she was the one that lost it and then found the money.
